Basilan, Philippines. The soon-to rise Claret Sama-Bajau Weaving Center in Maluso, Basilan, under the supervision of Fr. Jeffrey Rasay, will be funded by Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation. It will be both a weaving and display center of the bajau mats, other handicrafts and other items sustaining the livelihood component of the apostolate.
The Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation has recently received additional funding from a private donor to renovate the weaving center dedicated to the Sama-Bajau women weavers of Sitio Tehemen, Maluso, Basilan.
The development of the Sama-Bajau Weaving Center will ensure that the weavers have a conducive place to work and display their creations. The center is also intended for activities such as workshops and cultural events to promote and preserve the art of weaving. The space will provide the weavers an opportunity to showcase their rich culture, market their products, and earn additional income, which will help them become more self-sufficient in the long run.

We would like to thank Monde par la main / Give a Hand, AEB (Asia Pacific) Singapore, Yellow Boat of Hope USA, C.C. Buencamino Architect, and our private donors, for helping us in realizing this dream. This center will not only provide a space for weaving but also serve as a hub for cultural exchange, education, and sustainable livelihood.
Together, we are weaving a brighter future for the Sama-Bajau community, especially the children who will inherit this tradition. #HopeSails!

The 15 new paddle boats donated to our Sitio Tehemen Yellow Boat Community have just been painted a fresh coat of yellow.
We give our heartfelt thanks to the SGV Foundation for donating the 15 paddle boats, which are all made by local boat builders, to our adopted community in Maluso, Basilan. With your help, we are creating better living conditions for our Sama-Bajau brothers and sisters.
Besides fishing as their main source of livelihood, we are injecting more money into the local economy by providing the boat builders of Sitio Tehemen with additional income to support their family and childrenβs education. Using the boats as a reliable mode of transportation to and from school, we are also ensuring that their kids get to school fast, safe, and dry. Indeed, #HopeSails!
We are hopeful that these boats will have a significant and lasting impact on the community for years to come.
Let us keep #HopeStrong, #HopeItForward, and bring #HopeThatLasts until No Kid is Left Behind.
