As the clock struck 4:30 pm, the Gallardo Plaza came alive with a solemn yet hopeful atmosphere. Families, friends, and members of the clergy stood together, united in their shared memories of Fr. Rhoel’s unwavering faith and commitment to service. The evening began with a series of rituals, starting with the Prayer for Peace led by Bro. Harold Tinaja, CMFNov, and Fr. Amador Tumbaga, CMF, accompanied by their fellow Claretian priests. This prayer, resonating deeply with the community’s collective longing for peace and justice, set the tone for the evening’s proceedings.

Following the dance, a solemn candle lighting ceremony took place, each flickering flame a symbol of remembrance and honor for Fr. Rhoel and all those who lost their lives during that tragic period. Families and friends of the victims stood side by side, their silent prayers mingling with the gentle glow of the candles, creating a sacred moment of remembrance and healing.
Transitioning from the outdoor plaza to the sacred space of the Chapel, the community continued the commemoration with a Mass presided over by Fr. Amador Tumbaga, CMF. Joined by fellow Claretian priests Fr. Martin Ernest Ele, Fr. Ven John Porras, Fr. Jeffrey Rasay, and Fr. Jo Stephen Cagaanan, the Mass was a heartfelt tribute to Fr. Rhoel’s life and sacrifice. The choir, composed of local talents, the Claretian brothers and the people themselves filled the air with hymns of praise and thanksgiving, lifting the spirits of all present.
