The morning of the second day of the Mission Encounter began with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, presided over by Fr. Louie Guades III, CMF. It was followed by Fr. Amador Tumbaga, CMF, session on Leadership.
Father Amador first gathered the participants’ sentiments when they were elected or appointed leaders. He then developed the topic of leadership by emphasizing four aspects: living, serving, involving, and accompanying.
Later, Brother Joseph Roy Villarin, CMF, took over the session to discuss Discerning Leadership. The participants were divided into groups to discuss the various pointers related to discerning leadership and discernment. While sharing and deepening the topic, Bro Joseph asked Fr. Alejandro “Alex” Gobrin, CMF, to further explain the term discernment. He said that it is synonymous with setting someone apart for holiness.
“To discern is to be set apart, to be holy.” – Fr. Alex
In the second round of discussions, participants were asked about their aspirations for their institution, parish, or mission and the involvement of missionaries and lay partners in realizing these dreams. Some individuals thought organizing everyone into groups based on their specific sectors or ministries would be beneficial. And so, the procedure was also restructured, and the discussions went according to the will of the body, or we could say, the will of the Spirit for the Mission Encounter.
Participants from urban and rural parishes, basic education, formation, indigenous people’s mission, social development, sisters, lay partners, and the curia administration gathered and answered questions for the rest of the afternoon after restructuring the sharing dynamics.
The day concluded with an evening prayer led by Fraternidade Ecclesial Claretiana (FEC), dinner and a karaoke session after.
