Indonesia. The Fr. Rhoel Gallardo Province sent five (5) delegates to participate in SOLIDARITY AND MISSION (SOMI) TRAINING at Claret Retreat House, Benlutu Timor, Indonesia from November 26-30, 2024. The five delegates were Fr. Larry Miranda, CMF (Prefect of Apostolate), Fr. Charles Jocris Mortela, CMF (Mission Procurator) Fr. Arvin Bellen, CMF (SOMI Coordinator), Bro. Joseph Villarin, CMF (Indigenous People’s Apostolate), and Fr. Mon Andrei Ebdani, CMF (JPIC Coordinator). It was facilitated by the SOMI team of the Congregation composed of the General Mission Procurator Fr. Lord Winner, CMF, JPIC Coordinator Fr. Antonio Llamas, CMF, and the Claret Team at United Nations Fr. Rohan Dominic, CMF and Fr. Henry Ramirez, CMF.

The goal of the training was to enhance the capacity of Claretian organisms to understand and embrace the concept of Solidarity and Mission, fostering a deeper commitment to justice, peace, and sustainable development at local, regional, and global levels, with the ultimate aim of contributing to the transformation of the world. Furthermore, its objective was to familiarize with the concept, structure, and operations of SOMI at all organizational levels, fostering a unified understanding across regions, to deepen knowledge and practical application of JPIC, Mission Procure, and the Claretian UN Ministry within Major Organisms, equipping participants with insights and tools for active engagement and to develop a comprehensive SOMI action plan for Major Organisms, integrating the objectives of JPIC, Mission Procure, and UN involvement to ensure cohesive and effective implementation.


The five-day training focused on the different issues the world is facing today vis-a-vis the sustainable development goals. It culminated with a renewed commitment of all the delegates of the ASCLA EAST to embody the values of Solidarity and Mission through building a network of collaboration rooted in mutual trust and shared purpose in the work of social transformation.
